(Continued)
After the 4
group members completed their bungee jump, it was time for us to reach back to the
harness area. But unlike the zipline mode which took us to the jump area, the
return journey was the bridge walk with the others. The walk across the bridge gave one a breath taking view of the gorge.
The experience is similar to walking on air 200 metres above ground with nothing
other than a thin wire mesh to support you.
After bungy jump
and bunge bridge walk, and after a hearty lunch we proceeded to Tsitsikamma Falls
Adventures, where the next adventure awaited us. The zipline tour. The tourists
had an option of taking either the 8 slide or the 3 slide tour. Almost all the group members opted for
this, either the 8 slide or the 3 slide one, each depending on their choice. All tours begin with a safety briefing. Followed by a session where the participants are kitted up with body harness, pulleys & related paraphernalia.
The zipline tour is always accompanied by 2 or 3 guides. In the 3 slide tour
which we opted the longest slide was of 500 metres length which took us over
the waterfalls while sliding above the river. The scenery is amazing as one
zips along the river banks, waterfalls, and trees. The sliding is designed to
happen through sturdy steel ropes that are horizontally suspended over the landscape
containing rivers, forests, and other
flora fauna indigenous to the geography of the area. Strong platforms are built
atop trees. Typically the slide starts
from a platform, slopes downwards, &
ends in the next platform that would be the beginning of the next slide. The
guides ensure that all the group members reach the end platform before they
start the next slide.
After this action
packed day, the group members preferred a relaxing period, opting to get
dropped at local mall near the hotel, wanting to spend the time shopping. This shopping
time was however curtailed as malls & other shops in this area shut down by
1830 Hrs, leaving the group members with no other choice but to return to the
comfort of hotel room, have an early dinner & retire to bed. Next day
morning it was time to check out of Hotel Knysna Quays and leave for George
airport, from where our flight to Johannesberg was scheduled for 1000 Hrs. At
dinner time, Dev in his inimitable style, gave the timings for the next day
morning as 6/7/8.
